What 100 TB of broadcast traffic costs

Progressive tiers work like tax brackets: each rate applies only to the traffic inside its range. Requests, HTTPS, custom domains and origin shield are included, and the rate is the same in Europe, Asia and America.

Four things a broadcast schedule does to a CDN

A channel is not a file library. What changes is how long a manifest stays valid and how fast the audience arrives.

24/7 linear channels

A channel that never stops is a manifest that never stops changing. Live manifests run on near-zero TTL while segments are cached as immutable, so freshness and cache hit stop fighting each other.

Simulcast across regions

One encode, many regions. The same segments are served from the closest node, so going international does not mean re-architecting the delivery path.

Catch-up and archive

Yesterday's broadcast becomes a VOD catalogue overnight. Stable manifests get longer TTLs, and production VOD workloads sustain 97%+ segment cache hit.

Breaking news and peak events

Concurrency can triple inside a minute when a story breaks. Request coalescing and origin shield absorb it without a capacity request or a plan change.

How chunks reach the viewer

HLS and DASH split a channel into a manifest and segments, and the two need opposite cache rules. We apply them per zone so playback stays steady while the playlist stays fresh.

Simple setup: just bring your media server

To get started, all you need is your own media server or packager. We are a delivery layer, not a processing layer: we do not transcode, re-package or generate manifests, and that is exactly why nothing we do can break your playout chain.

  • Supported media servers: Wowza Streaming Engine, NGINX RTMP, FFmpeg and others that produce HLS or DASH output.

  • Flexible configuration: point the zone at your packager’s output and put the CDN hostname in your player config. Test on a temporary hostname before switching DNS.
